Being Thankful

I am thankful for all of you... and the City employees who clean up our neighborhoods. :)

Graffiti made the news a lot this past month... all post election related (un)fortunately.  I wish the City - and its residents - paid attention the rest of the time.

There are the protestors who hit up City Hall.  A city worker cleans graffiti off of Philadelphia City Hall that reads "Not My President."

There are the swastikas and more coverageswastika south broad

There was the racist pro-Trump graffiti that turned out to be an ex-boyfriendGraffitti at Sixth and Carpenter Streets in Philadelphia on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016.

And then there is the City attorney who is anti-Trump.

To the City's credit, the racist and anti-Semitic and highly public tags get taken down extraordinarily quickly, even above and beyond their normal efficient response.  I hope those that are responsible are held accountable and required to refund the city.

I also finally got a new phone.  You should begin to see some higher quality pictures.  Samsung Galaxy S III has been replaced by a Samsung Galaxy J7.

Over Thankgiving, we stayed over Wednesday night with my old rabbi and his family in Squirrel Hill, Pittsburgh.  We stopped again for food there on Monday.  I tried out the MyBurgh app.  Here is a news story on it.  It's a little easier to use than Philly 311.  There is no need to put in details about surface type and paint color.  Just a location and description and optional picture.  As of now, the requests are still open.  I'm curious to know if they'll clean up USPS property.

Squirrel Hill has a rather large Jewish neighborhood.  Some of the graffiti is near one of the Chabad yeshivas, however, none of it appeared to be directed towards the Jewish community.

Tuesday November 1

The 1600 Block of Carpenter is often a fun place to park.  Always graffiti there.

Sunday November 6

Typical Sunday - Farmers Market with a side trip to the cat.  I had to make a CVS run later in the evening.

Here's the cat I visit. :)
Tried reporting some damaged sidewalk on Catharine on the way to CVS.

Trash 18th and Catharine... again.
Potential trash culprit.

Monday November 7

There was a pre-election concert in Philly that wifey decided to go to.  Me... ummmm... no.  I want to a class put on by a rabbi (and eat pizza).  I got some graffiti on Catharine and Christian.

Wednesday November 9

Life goes back to normal.

Thursday November 10

Wifey left something behind at Rittenhouse.  I had the honor of going to get it.  I walked back up 19th and got graffiti along the way.

Friday November 11 (Veterans Day)

Sunday November 13

More stuff around the Queen Village area.  I parked on Front Street and saw quite a few things.  There was also graffiti on the South Street Penns Landing.

In the Northeast on the way to the JRA Warehouse.

Sunday November 20

Because of the Philadelphia Marathon, I thought it would be prudent to walk to Sunday morning services rather than drive.  I pass so much graffiti on Saturdays (the Sabbath) but am unable to report it.  This gave me a chance to take my normal route and clear out a lot of graffiti.  Catharine to 13th, through Hawthorne Park to Fitzwater, to 8th through Palumbo Playground, Bainbridge to Lombard.  Then to Farmers Market at Headhouse Square.  The return trip is Lombard through Seger Park to Rodman, to South.  It was getting close to the 8:30 AM start so I had to skip some things around 6th and Bainbridge.  I also wanted to get home and see wifey so I skipped things on South.  It was also a last hurrah with my old phone.
18th and Spruce in front of Starbucks
6th and South - See the runners!

Tuesday November 22

This tag had the honor of being the first graffiti reported by my new phone.
